The Buttermaker’s House in Markerville, Alberta INLNA Artist Residency Award Applications Now Open for 2027
Deadline for submission: Nov. 30, 2026
The INLNA Artist Residency Award was established in 2024 through an agreement between the Stephan G. Stephansson Icelandic Society (SGSIS) and the Icelandic National League of North America (INLNA).
Applications are open from September 15 to November 30 of each year. Awards will be announced not later than January 30 of the following year, to be used in that calendar year.
We're happy that Marie Sveinson is heading out on a new adventure, but of course a little sad that it includes her moving away! Marie participated in a couple of our Artists on the Avenue events in Markerville over the years, including this year. She held an Open House at her studio just five minutes outside of Markerville that weekend since she was also downsizing painting supplies along with selling her artwork. A 10'x10' tent was not going to cut it!
You can join Marie for a "Farewell Happy Hour" on September 22 between 4-7pm at Fensala Hall, 24 Main Avenue, Markerville, Alberta.
Note: The downsizing is still going on. Marie is currently holding an Online Auction with Beck Auctions in case you are interested (household and some artwork): bid.beckauctions.com/auction.aspx?as=118392#i60977140...
Betty Brown Caskey will be at Christmas in Markerville on November 6th to 8th, 2026! You'll find her booth in Fensala Hall from 11am to 4pm each day.
